Understanding Liver Disease

MASLD

Metabolic Dysfunction–Associated Steatotic Liver Disease affects millions of people and is closely linked to metabolic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and insulin resistance.

MASH

MASH is a more severe form of MASLD where inflammation and liver damage occur. Without treatment, it may lead to fibrosis, cirrhosis, or liver failure.

NASH

Previously known as Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis, NASH is part of the same disease spectrum and remains widely used in research and medical literature.

Fatty Liver

Fatty liver disease is the earliest stage of liver disease and occurs when excess fat builds up in the liver. It often develops silently and is commonly linked to metabolic conditions like obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol. If not addressed, fatty liver can progress to more serious conditions such as MASLD and MASH (formerly called NASH), where inflammation and liver damage begin to occur. The good news is that early detection and lifestyle changes can often help prevent the disease from progressing.

Understanding fatty liver disease is a critical first step in protecting liver health and preventing the progression to MASH, MASLD, and other advanced liver conditions.
